Seascapers Felixstowe

Video 25 mins

Combining footage captured on the shoreline and via Go Pro cameras worn by the participants, and the exchanges between swimmers, this film offers a portrait of the open water swimming community in Felixstowe and an insight into what makes swimming so necessary for body and mind.Set against the backdrop of the pandemic, the act of sea swimming offers us timely questions about what ‘health’ - both mental and physical - means to us now and the potential of the sea to make us feel human. A symbol of individual endeavour, and collective spirit, sea swimming allows usto take care of ourselves and one another. With world events causing concern and sadness, this capacity for care has rarely been so significant.
